‘Emily’ to be new TV show

Author Carrie Gerlach Cecil will have her characters from “Emily’s Reasons Why Not” come to life in a television series in the fall. On Tuesday night, she will be at Barnes & Noble book store in The Grove signing copies of her novel.

Heather Graham is slated to star in the television series as Emily Sanders. ABC Television and Sony Television have ordered 13 shows, according to reports. It is scheduled to air on Monday nights.

“Having my first novel picked up for a series by ABC has been a surreal experience,” said Gerlach Cecil. “The entire team has done an amazing job bringing Emily to life — from my team at Endeavor and the Firm to HarperCollins and now producers and Heather Graham, each person has had a large part in making my dreams come true. I knock on wood every day.”

“Emily’s Reasons Why Not” explores the search for love, sex and commitment by Emily Sanders, a single, successful, professional woman in her 30s living in Los Angeles.

Gerlach Cecil, who lives in Manhattan Beach and is also president of Anachel Communications in Los Angeles, will be reading from her novel and signing copies of her book starting at 7:30 p.m.
