A delicious ‘Miss Conception’

Ever want to attend a Hollywood movie press junket? Now’s your chance as SheKnows takes our readers inside Heather Graham’s press roundtable last week.

A veteran of over two dozen films, from “Boogie Nights” to “Bowfinger,” Heather Graham is starring in the new film, “Miss Conception.” She gathered reporters at the Hilton in Glendale and SheKnows is thrilled to present the uncut, honest answers an artist gives when sitting a few feet away from reporters discussing their most recent passionate project.

“We had a coach. He was amazing. Thank God for him. We were really scared.

I think the producer had a situation where at first the coach was going to be on the set for only the first two weeks so Mia (Kirshner) and I thought we need this dialect coach the whole time. We definitely fought for that. He made us feel relaxed, gave you confidence, I was lucky to work with such a good coach. He said in London it’s cool now to mix in a little Cockney with your London high class.

I started talking in the accent all day. When I got the job, there wasn’t really that much time to work on it. We’d go to lunch and talk, talk, talk, as much as we could. The script was always written as an English film, the ways the people talk are so British. It would not have worked to have us talk like Americans.”

Heather Graham Talks ‘Miss Conception’

The actress talks about her new film, British accents, future projects and more.

What can I say about Heather Graham that we don’t already know. The talented actress was stealing scenes in such classics as License to Drive and Swingers which led up to her astonishing breakthrough performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights. Her new film is the unique comedy Miss Conception which revolves around a desperate woman’s attempt to bear a child, before it is literally too late. I was lucky enough to be invited to a roundtable interview session with the actress, where she discussed her new movie and much more. Here’s what she had to say.

Heather Graham, a hippie at heart

The actress says that when she isn’t meditating, communing with nature or doing yoga, she’s actually finds time to do a movie or two, such as her new one, ‘Miss Conception.’

Heather Graham stars in “Miss Conception,” a comedy about making babies that opens Friday in L.A. Graham has appeared in “Boogie Nights” and “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,” and on TV’s “Scrubs” and “Arrested Development.” She called at midnight on a Saturday from Austin, Texas, where she is shooting “Ex-Terminators”; she was being driven to her trailer.

Is there a bit of post-strike chaos in your life?

I’m really glad, I support the writers getting what they want. It’s freaky when things shut down. But I’ve gotten into developing stuff, being a producer — so, I want to get into these things I love.
