Basinger, Graham, O’Hara meet ‘Fortune’

Kim Basinger, Heather Graham, Catherine O’Hara and Jason Patric are in final negotiations to star in dark indie comedy “Fortune” with Clark Johnson directing.

They all land in Las Vegas, where violence and destinies collide.

Basinger was most recently seen in “Charlie St. Cloud.” Graham’s toplining in “Judy Moody and Not the Bummer Summer,” due out next month from Relativity. O’Hara will next be seen in Disney’s “Frankenweenie.” Patric was last seen in “The Losers.”

Franco, Graham, Patel board indie ‘Cherry’

Author Stephen Elliott is set to direct James Franco in the indie drama “Cherry,” with Heather Graham, Dev Patel and indie stalwart Lili Taylor in negotiations to star.

Elliott — author of “The Adderall Diaries,” which Franco recently optioned — co-wrote the script with Lorelei Lee.

Liz Destro (“Explicit Ills”) is producing the pic, which follows a troubled 18-year-old who moves to San Francisco, where she enters the porn industry and becomes involved with a cocaine-addicted lawyer, to be played by Franco.

Graham will play a former porn star-turned-director who becomes mildly obsessed with the young starlet, who has yet to be cast. Taylor will play the teen’s alcoholic mother, while Patel (“Slumdog Millionaire”) will play the girl’s best friend who’s in love with her.

“Cherry” is scheduled to start production next month in San Francisco.

A sneak peek of movie “Judy Moody’s Not Bummer Summer”

Chances are if you know a third-grade girl, she’ll squeal when you mention the name Judy Moody.

That’s because Moody, a smart, flip, funny, adventurous and, yes, moody third-grader, is the star of a series of best-selling books that bear her name.

Written by Megan McDonald, the Moody books have sold more than 14 million copies and have been translated into dozens of languages. Peter H. Reynolds illustrates the books.

“She’s very smart and funny and up for some kind of crazy adventure,” says McDonald of her protagonist.

After 10 books, Judy’s popularity has grown so immense that the only thing left for her to do, of course, was star in a movie.

On June 10, “Judy Moody and The Not Bummer Summer,” opens with Jordana Beatty as Judy Moody. Heather Graham stars as Aunt Opal, Parris Mosteller is her pesky little brother Stink, and look for Jaleel White — he of geeky “Urkel” fame — to play third-grade teacher Mr. Todd.
